OOTD: Blue Stripy Dress

I’ve had this dress for a little while and it’s still one of my absolute favourites! It’s a strapless mini dress from Pretty Little Thing, with blue and white vertical strips and wide navy blue bands at the top and waist.

My only criticism of this dress is that because of the slight pleating around the waist-band, it can sometimes make it puff out a little at the tummy and make you look a little bigger than you are. That said, it doesn’t do that all the time and the usually, it does a really good job of highlighting the slimness of your waist and giving you a nice hourglass figure from straight-on.

It is starting to feel a lot like summer now but it’s still a little chilly here in London, so I decided to wear this dress with black tights and a long grey cardigan, mostly just because it’s cosy! 🙂

And of course I just had to wear my over-the-knee Zara boots because, even after 3 months, I am still obsessed with them!

The Makeup

I left my hair really natural with this look – it was just left to air-dry after washing and had a brush run through it, that’s all. The makeup was a lot more work though… I used quite a few new products for the first time which was a little daunting but I’m really happy with how it turned out!

For my skin I started with Barry M’s Colour Correcting Kit to reduce the colour of the dark circles under my eyes, red patches on and around my nose and some slightly yellow-ish tones around my lips.

Then I applied a thin layer of my new foundation, L’Oreal Paris 24 Hours Infallible Foundation in Natural Rose. I really like this because it gives such a light, smooth coverage!

Then I used a little of the Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer in Light and Barry M Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit in Light to Medium.

For the brows I stuck with my favourite Maybelline Master Brow Pro Palette Kit Deep Brown and used my current-favourite mascara; Rimmel’s Volume Colourist Mascara.

For the eyes I tried something a little new. I used Maybelline’s Master Smoky Eyeliner Pencil in Smoky Black, which is an old favourite, along my waterline. Then on my lids and under my eyes I combined 2 new Barry M products: the Bold Gold Waterproof Eyeliner in the inner corners, blending into the Bronze Eyeshadow Pencil in the outer edges.

I’m really happy with this makeup look, it’s a little more makeup than I’d normally wear but for something a bit special, I like it 🙂
