I’ve definitely got into a kind of habit with my makeup – I have a pretty similar routine for every video I film. Today I thought I’d run through a simple tutorial of my everyday makeup routine – I’ve included a list of every product I use at the end – everything I use was under £15 so it’s all really affordable and easy enough for everyone to do! 🙂
Here’s my face without any makeup on. I’ve been talking recently on Instagram about how my skin has been suffering a lot recently since I started wearing makeup more often for my videos. So I’ve been stepping up my skincare routine and it’s slowly getting better, but for now, please forgive the spots, discoloured areas and little bits of dry skin.
Step 1: Base
I start, as always by applying a thin layer of foundation over the entire face with a makeup sponge. I love this one because it applys the product really smoothly and the shape is perfect for making sure there’s even coverage over the entire face!
Step 2: Brows
I love bold brows. I know it can be a bit of a personal preference but I adore them!
I start by lining the bottom of my brows with a dark brown powder.
Then I just take the colour up and fill in my brows, sticking to the natural shape of them, never going over the edges / where the real hair is.
Step 3: Eyeshadow
Eyeshadow next – the fun bit! This is my go-to eyeshadow look for when I’m on video because I have slightly hooded eyes and this look makes my eyes look a little less-hooded and bigger than they actually are.
I’ve been using my Revolution Flawless Matte Palette a lot recently and the look is no different!
I start by applying a little of the colours Warm and Rosewood above the crease of my eye and up towards the brow bone. I like to use a really soft, fluffy brush for this to blend them together and blend out.
Then I take the slighty browner colour, Olden, and apply it in the crease and bring it down on to my eyelid a little more.
Then I want to brighten the lid a little so I took the Max Factor Masterpiece Colour Precision Eyeshadow in Pearl Beige and applied a little of the directly to the lid. Random story: I didn’t like this when I first bought this – I thought it was irritating my eyes and that I was a little allergic to it. Turns out I had some issue with the makeup brush I’d been using to blend the colour (and only ever used with this product), not the eyeshadow itself. So I switched up the brush and haven’t had any isssues since!
So one I had some of the product on my lid, I just used a flat brush to pat the colour over my entire lid.
Next up I added a little concealer under the eyes so I can pretend I’m less tired than I usually am. And a coat of mascara.
Step 4: Contouring & Cheeks
Next up a little subtle contouring on the cheeks and nose.
And then a little blush on the apples of my cheeks.
Then I added a small amount of highlighter at the cheek bones.
Step 5: Lips
Finally for the lips! My current favourite lipstick is L’Oreal’s Color Riche Matte lipstick in the colour Moka Chic. I adore it!
Here, I applied it over a lip pumping gel from Soap & Glory which also gave my lips a lovely little shine!
